OPI Mermaid Tears

Mermaid Tears....

Mermaid Tears is this crazy beautiful light dusty, jade, blue, green, sea colored polish... I can't even explain it... The formula on this wasn't the best, but then again, it's (sort of) a pastel... I heard that pastels don't have the best formula/application. I mean, it wasn't horrible... just a little streaky. The dry time on this was lightning fast!!! Seriously!! This is three thin coats.

To be honest, I have mix feelings about this color. I like it but I don't feel it's that unique. It's close to NOPI My Lifesaver and a shade or two darker than Revlon Minted. (comparison post perhaps??) I had this on for only a couple hours and it started chipping, but my friend had it on for a week with minor chipping/tip wear. So ya, not sure what to think.

What are your thoughts??

Bettina Vintage Jean

I have tried my second Bettina polish... Vintage Jean from the Jeans collection!! :)

This blue beauty is Vintage Jean.... dusty sky blue perfection(: The formula on this was buttery smooth, it applied nice and even. I love the brushes on these! It fans out perfectly and carries a good amount of product... for my nail type at least. This is 2 coats.

Move over Blue Me Away! Bettina Vintage Jean is my new go-to blue! :)

Bettina #27

Today I tried my first Bettina polish!! :)

Bettina #27 is a seriously gorgeous dark plum color with just the slightest hint of red-ish/purple shimmer.  It quite sparse so you can't really see it in the shade but it's visible in the sunlight :) The formula on this beauty was amazing!! It glided on, it dried shiny, and drying time was fast. This is two coats.

If you looked at the bottom of the bottle you can see that it had a gold-ish duo-chrome... sadly, that didn't show up on the nail :( It's still pretty though! All pictures are click-able, you can see the shimmer better that way.

Afterwards, I stamped it using one of my BM plates and filled in the center of the flower with Bettina Vintage Jean.

Let me know what you think :)

Carla Shattered....

Hi!
So I finally got a bottle of Black Shatter! Regis was having a buy one get one half off and they had most of the Pirates Collection (I picked up Mermaid Tears) and I was going to get Steady As She Rose but then my friend convinced me to get Black Shatter. Anyway, todays mani is an asian polish from the brand Carla with Black Shatter on top(:

Extremely sorry about the weird lighting on the swatch pics! This polish is a pain to photograph! It looked pure turquoise in most of the photos! I finally found someplace where it was color accurate, except it had weird lighting (the corner between my door and the wall, LOL).

Carla #25 is a gorgeous shimmery jungle green color. The formula is a little watery but application was great, nice and smooth. It dries semi-frosty though... Dry time was really fast. Personally, even though it's really pretty, I think #25 is a little boring on it's own... I love the way the shatter polish makes it POP! :)

Oh, and one last thing, when I took pictures of Black Shatter with the Carla polish, the pictures turned out fine! I guess next time I need to take a picture of #25 with a black bottle, lol.

I loved this combo!! What about you?? :)

Club Havana

I usually use this for stamping but I decided it was time to use it as my base color....

Club Havana is an orange leaning towards a melon color... Dry time was average, and application was pretty good considering the price. Only problem I had was bald spots, but after three thin coats, everything evened out(:

I then stamped an image from plate BM210 and then filled it in using some shimmery OPI's :) It looks a little messy... but overall I kind of like it... not crazy about it... but I like it. The blue looks kind of "sketchy" because I was running out... sorry about that.

What do you think?? FAIL or GRAIL?
  • Base Color: Wet N Wild Club Havana
  • Stamp Color: Konad Special Blue
  • Shimmery Polishes: orange- OPI Take The Stage!, gold- OPI Rising Star
  • Plate: BM210

Hallows or Horcruxes??

In the last book Harry had to choose whether or not he should find and kill the horcruxes, or go after the hallows. I decided to base my Harry Potter nails on this. I found that this was a very important question to ask himself. Which SHOULD he go after? Overall, I think my nails turned out ok... not great, seeing that I am awful at free hand nail art, but it could have been worse.

I don't know about you, but I personally thought that the movie was disappointing. It was nothing like the book, and the ending made me upset. They didn't even have the whole discussion between Voldemort and Harry! And the duel between Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix!!! In the book is was epic! In the movie it was like 20 seconds long! I am not saying that the movie was bad (it was actually pretty good), it just made me upset that it was NOTHING like the book. I also want to mention that if you haven't read the book... READ IT. It will be one of the best books you will have ever read in your life.

Moving onto the nails.....

Horcruxes

Thumb: Salazar Slytherin's Locket
 Index: Harry's Scar
 Middle: Helga Hufflepuff's Cup
 Ring: Marvolo Gaunts Ring
 Pinky: Tom Riddle's Diary

Hallows

 Index: Resurrection Stone
 Middle: Elder Wand
 Ring: Deathly Hallows Sign
Pinky: Invisibility Cloak

As you can see... I am not the best at drawing... and I failed miserably at the deathly hallows sign (tried 6 times!) and at the cloak...I tried to make it look like a moon manicure... but... no. If your wondering why I didn't post my right hand thumb (hallows side) it's the deathly hallows sign. It was so bad though, that I didn't even want to take a photo of it, lol. Overall, I am actually quite happy at the way this turned out... my nails look kind of awesome from a distance.

Do you love Harry Potter as much as I do? Were you sort of disappointed at the movie like me? What did you like and what didn't you like? What do you think of my nails?? I would LOVE to hear feedback. Who is your favorite character? Mine is probably Bellatrix Lestrange... Helena Bonham Carter is THE best actress in the world! Pity she didn't play a bigger part in this last movie.

HARRY POTTER RULES!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :D
